Starting from Monday, i.e., from 1 January 2024, it is now mandatory for all packaged goods to display the ‘\ud835\uddf1\ud835\uddee\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddf3 \ud835\uddfa\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddfb\ud835\ude02\ud835\uddf3\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddf0\ud835\ude01\ud835\ude02\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddfb\ud835\uddf4’ \ud835\uddee\ud835\uddfb\ud835\uddf1 ‘\ud835\ude02\ud835\uddfb\ud835\uddf6\ud835\ude01 \ud835\ude00\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\uddfd\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddf0\ud835\uddf2,’ as announced by Consumer Affairs Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh. Previously, companies could print either the ‘date of manufacturing,’ ‘date of import,’ or the date of packaging on their products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the recent notification from \ud835\ude01\ud835\uddf5\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\uddd6\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddfb\ud835\ude00\ud835\ude02\ud835\uddfa\ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddff \ud835\uddd4\ud835\uddf3\ud835\uddf3\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddff\ud835\ude00 \ud835\udde0\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddfb\ud835\uddf6\ud835\ude00\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddff\ud835\ude06, companies must include only the ‘date of manufacturing’ and the ‘unit sale price’ in their product packaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The consumer affairs secretary emphasized to PTI the significance of consumers being informed about the ‘unit sale price’ of packaged items, considering the varying quantities in which they are sold\u2014\ud835\udde7\ud835\uddf5\ud835\uddf6\ud835\ude00 \ud835\uddee\ud835\ude04\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddfb\ud835\uddf2\ud835\ude00\ud835\ude00 \ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddfb\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddef\ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddf2\ud835\ude00 \ud835\uddf0\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddfb\ud835\ude00\ud835\ude02\ud835\uddfa\ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddff\ud835\ude00 \ud835\ude01\ud835\uddfc \ud835\uddfa\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddf8\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddfb\ud835\uddf3\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddfa\ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddf1 \ud835\uddfd\ud835\ude02\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf0\ud835\uddf5\ud835\uddee\ud835\ude00\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddfb\ud835\uddf4 \ud835\uddf1\ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddf0\ud835\uddf6\ud835\ude00\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddfb\ud835\ude00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Including the manufacturing date in the print will enable consumers to determine the age of the packaged item, facilitating more mindful purchase decisions. Likewise, including the unit sale price in the printing will simplify the process for consumers to calculate the cost in unit terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
